Market¶
IATA MRO SmartHub has a significant number of actual transaction data. This data is used to provide you with statistics about market development in terms of transaction volume and price level on different aggregation levels: complete market, material domain, and material type.
- Complete market:
Full view on market without any restrictions or differentiations.
- Material domain:
Transaction data is differentiated by material domain: components and rotables, consumables and expendables, or engines. KPI are calculated on material domain level.
- Material type:
Transaction data is differentiated by material type: surplus or new material.
Transaction volume¶
The transaction volume is calculated on a monthly basis. The reference month is January 2019 representing a value of 100. For every following month, the transaction volume is calculated relative to January 2019.
Price level¶
The price level is calculated on a daily basis as 14 day moving average. The reference time period is the year 2019 and the average price level for 2019 represents a value of 100. For every following day, the price level is calculated relative to the average price level of 2019.
Note
For every graphic, detailed information about the data scope used to calculate the KPIs can be found underneath.
Aircraft lifecycles¶
The Aircraft Lifecycles feature provides fleet data for commercial aircraft types, showing the lifecycle status of the global fleet over time. The data is sourced from ch-aviation and updated on a monthly basis.
For a selected aircraft type, the chart displays the number of aircraft in each lifecycle state:
Active — currently in operational service
Inactive — temporarily out of service (e.g., stored)
Retired — permanently withdrawn from service
On order — ordered but not yet delivered
The data covers a wide range of aircraft families including Airbus (A320, A330, A340, A350, A380), Boeing (B737, B747, B757, B767, B777, B787), Embraer (E170/175, E190/195), ATR (ATR 42, ATR 72), and other regional and widebody types.
This information helps users understand fleet trends and anticipate demand for parts based on the lifecycle distribution of relevant aircraft types.
