Consignment
The consignment module of the IATA MRO SmartHub supports the consignment process by providing all necessary functionalities to consign material to a partner company. The consignment module is applicable to both types of consignment; the one where material is physically transferred and the one where material is only virtually transferred.
Note
The term consignment describes the process of consigning any material to another person or company but retaining the legal ownership until the material are sold. The act of consigning can be the physical transfer/shipping of the material or the virtual transfer of the material with the intension to sell the material. The legal owner of the material is known as the consignor/supplier that sends/transfers/supplies the material to the consignee/receiver, who is taking care of the material.
In the following, the partners and the according modules in IATA MRO SmartHub of a consignment project are named Supplier - the company owning the material - and Receiver - the company receiving the material and taking care of.
