Asset Manager

General

I cannot see the Asset Manager in the menu bar

To get access to the asset manager module, please reach out to your company administrator. He is able to authorize you for the different modules. A tutorial on user management can be found here Company settings & administration.

In case the asset manager module is not available for your company, please contact us via our contact form (How to contact IATA?).

How do I access an asset project?

By clicking on Asset Manager > Participant, you will be directed to the asset project overview. Here, you can see all ended, upcoming and started asset projects for which you have been invited to.

Based on your participant type (internal vs. external), you will only be able to access asset projects in the corresponding phases.

Who can participate in an asset project?

Participation in an asset project is by invitation only. During the setup process, the project owner decides on the invited users and companies. If you have been invited to an asset project, you will receive a notification e-mail with details on the offered asset and timing of the project.

Accessing a project

I can see only 1 or 2 categories. There must be more categories for this asset.

The asset owner separately decides for every category who should be invited. Receiving the announcement for a new asset project via e-mail does not imply that you have been invited to all available material categories. If you have questions about specific asset projects and categories, please reach out to your contact at the asset owner company.

What is the timeline for an asset project?

You can access the current timeline for a specific asset project in the details screen. See Timeline. Based on the currently available information, the asset owner has specified the expected process and milestones for the asset project. The timeline may be subject to changes during the project period. Such changes will be communicated by the project owner via the news section.

Who can I contact if I have further questions?

If you have questions about specific asset projects, please reach out to your contact at the asset owner company.

If you have general questions about the Auctioneer, please contact us via our contact form (How to contact IATA?). The IATA Customer Support will get back to you as soon as possible.

Bidding on an asset project

What is the difference between internal and external bidding phase?

There are two different types of participants for asset projects. In general, you can only participate in an asset project, if your have been invited to at least one category included.

Internal bidders are participants that belong to the same company as the asset project owner. Internal bidders can access the project already during the internal bidding phase and place their bids.

External bidders are participants that belong to other companies as the asset project owner. External bidders can access the project only during the general bidding phase to place their bids.

Can I bid on complete category listings?

This depends on how the specific category was set up by the project owner. On the IATA MRO SmartHub, two bid types for asset project categories are available: category bids and part bids.

For both bid types, you are able to bid on the complete listings. For category bids, you are required to do so, whereas for categories with part bids you are also able to bid on individual items.

I have checked the category/part list and I am not interested.

In this case, you can express that you are not interested in this asset category by checking the respective checkbox in the category details. After clicking on Save your response is stored and will be shown to the asset project owner. Any bids for this category or parts in this category that may have been placed already are deleted.

If you change your opinion during the bidding phase, you can revert your decision by unchecking the checkbox and clicking on Save.

Can I edit my bid?

You can submit new bids until the bidding phase ended. All existing bids will be deleted once a new bid has been placed.

Can I get a list of the parts included in a specific category?

This depends on the type of category you are looking at.

If the category is set up with category bids, no further details beside the category description and potential attached documentation is available.

If the category is configured with part bids, you can access the list of available parts in the category details screen. If you scroll down to the section Part bids, you will see an overview of the parts included. If you wish to download the part list, you can click on the button Export part list.

Can the content of an asset project change during the bidding process?

No. After the bidding process has started, the content of an asset project in terms of available categories and included parts is locked and cannot be changed by the project owner. However, after the internal bidding phase ended parts that have already received a bid will be hidden to not create competition between internal and external bidders.

How can I contact the asset project owner to ask for additional information on the offered asset?

If you have questions about specific asset projects, please reach out to your contact at the asset owner company.

The asset project can include attachements like, e.g., documentation, certificates. You can access the documentation by clicking on the file icon in the upper right corner of the project details screen.

How do I place a bid on a category?

You are able to place bids in the Bids/Part bids section of the category details. Depending on the bid type, you have different bidding processes:

Category bids: You can submit your category bid by entering your bid into the Enter new bid field and clicking Save bid.

Part bids: You have to download the part list in CSV format by clicking on Export part list. You can then enter your bid values and the quantity of parts you would like to bid on in the exported file. After entering your bids, save your file in CSV format. Then, upload the file with your bids by clicking Upload bids and selecting your file. Bids will then be placed based on your inputs. If you are using Microsoft Excel to open the export and edit your bids, please refer to this Microsoft Support page Microsoft support that explains how you can convert CSV files into an easy-to-edit format.

Is there a minimum bid?

Yes, the minimum is $1.

After the bidding phase

What happens after the bidding phase ended?

After the bidding phase of an asset project ended, the project owner receives a summary of all activities. Participants will not be able to bid on any category or part list anymore. The asset project owner has to award the categories and parts. After the awarding process is done, you will receive an e-mail informing you on the outcome.
